Plum Island found themselves trailing quickly as the Aspen bats came through in the first inning with 3 runs on 3 base hits. Jose Altuve led off and keyed the rally when he drew a walk. Ichiro Suzuki next to the plate and he doubled. After an out was recorded, Brandon Belt then tripled which was good for two runs. Kendrys Morales followed next and he was hit by a pitch. Evan Gattis came up to bat and hit a deep fly scoring the final run of the inning. That early scoring was all that Maeda(1-3) needed. Aspen had 14 hits for the night. Drew Pomeranz(3-1) was the loser. He was hit hard and gave up 13 hits and 4 walks in 7 innings. Henry Vance was upset after the game.
